and middle school students here in maryland are making progress on the maryland school assessments. students did real well in reading and math. elementary school students are inching closer to 90% proficiency marks in reading, and the number of students scoring well on an elementary school math test also remained at 86%. middle school students scored well in math and reading also went up. >>> first allegations of cheating, and tonight news of disappointing test scores of baltimore county city students. roosevelt leftwich joins us live from city school headquarters toel us what officials are saying tonight. >> reporter: why there may have been a drop in the msa scores, he says this is not the whole story. he says you have to look at the big picture. at a news conference, he talked with reporters about the msa results. he said proficiency in math dropped 4.9% while proficiency in reading dropped 3.4%. alonzo says they will look at everything from teacher proficiency to student mobility to figure out a response. but in the meantime alonzo says this isn't the whole story. he said if yo

to this first summer eve, kelly. maryland's most popular radar. there's a cluster out to the west. this is out towards the hagerstown area. you're traveling west and taking out from mt. areay and have to get towards hagerstown, you may encounter showers and storms around the hancock area the heaviest is south of i-70 towards headsville. back around baltimore, there's not much out there one renegade3 storm. humid and hazy, 84 degrees. 65% humidity and winds southeast at eight miles per hour. that is a bit of a human breeze. that bay water temp up close to 80 in spots. a hazy day, you'd have to call it for the first day of summer in baltimore. lots of sail boats. it was certainly warm enough for that and mount airy, a few passing clouds. it did stay on the hazy side. 89 in hagerstown and york pa is at 87. cooler towards southern maryland where it will be cloudier. moisture levels high. dew point numbers, any time you get a dew point above 70, consider it oppressive. so humidity high. thankfully, the temperatures are not overly hurt. heat index values is what it feels like. there are
